The town of Frederick, Colorado, is a statutory town found in Weld county. Frederick is part of the Greeley, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area and the Front Range Urban Corridor.

According to the United States 2020 census, Frederick had a population of 14,513, which represented an increase since the 2010 United States Census of 67.22%.

Geography

Frederick town is located at 40°6′40″N 104°57′39″W and sits at an elevation of 1,519m. In the United States Census of 2020, the city had 9,742 acres with 80 acres of water. Frederick is in Carbon Valley, with nearby communities being Dacano to the south and Firestone to the North, making up the ‘Tri-Town area.’ The town of Frederick, Colorado, also contains an unincorporated section called Evanston.

Frederick sits on Colorado’s Front Range of the Rocky Mountains, and the town is served by Interstate 25, which is south of State Highway 119 and along State Highway 52. History Of Frederick, Colorado

Frederick town has a rich history that dates back to 1907 by three sisters who named the town after their father, Frederick A. Clark, who was then the landowner of the area known as Frederick. Immigrants were instrumental in the town’s growth as they came to work in many of the coal mines in the area. Although the miners received minimal payouts, they settled in the area and raised families. Today the town honours the efforts and sacrifices made by these miners on Miners Day. The town’s pioneer, Frederick, was keen to develop an education system and funded the construction of the first high school, which was named after him in 1916. The tight-knit community of Frederick banded together to improve their living conditions by funding and constructing social amenities for themselves; an example of this is the purchase of what is now known as Milavec Lake to provide a reliable water source to the town.
